Adult Literacies Online is supported by the Link opens in new windowCommunities Team in Learning and Teaching Scotland.

The Link opens in new windowAdult Literacy and Numeracy in Scotland report (2001) spoke of improving the quality of programmes through "a national online databank" which it described as "a single point of access for available resources, training and development, research and networking". Adult Literacies Online was developed to provide that database.

Your guide to using Adult Literacies Online

Using ALO is easy. You can either search for resources or add your own resources.

In Scotland, adult literacies teaching and learning follows the principles of the Scottish Adult Literacy and Numeracy Framework.

Searching for resources

Use the Search Resources tab to find your way to the search engine for the site.

Your can search in different ways:

  1. Add your key words in the search box and click search.
  2. Narrow your search by choosing a type of resource from the drop down menu.
  3. Narrow your search by choosing a topic from the drop down menu.

Adding resources

If you would like to contibute your own resources to the site, use the Add resources tab..
