What you should know about our policy on contributions to this site.

Contribution Policy: What are we looking for?

Adult Literacies Online is here for you to access and share learning and teaching resources, reports, training resources relevant to the Scottish approach to adult literacies. We are looking for contributions such as teaching resources that you have tried and tested, case studies of actual practice, and training materials that you have use with adult literacies tutors and tutor assistants.

If you're an individual or institution hosting resources on your own website, ALO can happily direct users towards these.

Submissions Process

If you have something to share, please use our online contribution form, giving us as much information as you can.

Your ideas and sample files will be considered by the contribution support group and we will get back to you if we need any more information.

Terms and Conditions

  1. A member of the contribution support group will check all items and their decision is final.
  2. All contributors should ensure that they check with their employer, re: permissions for contributing the work and acknowledgements required.
  3. It is assumed that the contributor has obtained any necessary copyright permissions for the use of images, music etc on articles that they have written and or downloadable items.
  4. The contributor must accept responsibility if a breach of copyright occurs as a result of the use of these sources.
  5. Adult Literacies Online accepts material on the basis that this is the first online publication of the material.
  6. Adult Literacies Online reserves the right to remove inappropriate materials following publication.

Copyright

Copyright remains with you as the author of the resource, and users are required to cite the source when using your contributions.

The information and publications produced by the Scotland government on their own websites are subject to Crown Copyright. Material may be reproduced without formal permission or charge for personal or in-house use only. They should not be used for profit.

Liability

You should remember that you are legally responsible for what you write. By accepting the Terms and Conditions of Use, you undertake to indemnify Communities Scotland and its employees and subcontractors against any liability arising from any breach of confidentiality, copyright or other intellectual property right resulting from materials submitted by you for publication on the ALO website. You further undertake to indemnify Communities Scotland against all damages, losses, claims and costs (including without limitation all expenses incurred in conducting or defending any proceedings) resulting from materials published by you on this website. You must not make statements that are libellous, obscene, seek to incite racial hatred or otherwise break the laws of the United Kingdom.
